Well-Fit Ironman Wisconsin Training Program

NEW for 2013: Well-Fit's Ironman Wisconsin training program has expanded to the Western and Northern Suburbs!

The Well-Fit Ironman Wisconsin training program is designed to provide comprehensive training and support to successfully complete Ironman. Since 2009, we've helped over 100 athletes cross the finish line at Ironman Wisconsin. Each year, our group consists of beginners (even those who have never done a triathlon!) as well as those who have already completed an Ironman. Our program includes weekly coached sessions to provide you with periodized training and technical feedback as well as triathlon-related education to improve yourself as an athlete. We coach to the whole athlete. Completing an Ironman is more than just doing the training - it’s doing the right training at the right time in addition to integrating proper nutrition, recovery and mindset. With 17 athletes per class, participants find training partners at similar speeds in the swim, bike and run. No matter where you are in your journey as an athlete or what pace you go, you will find a welcoming place in our group and detailed education, guidance and support from our coaches.

Please note: The timing of our program works well for participants training for Ironman Wisconsin, Canada or Louisville. Our coaches will help you prepare for the specific needs of your Ironman, where ever it may be.

Ironman Wisconsin Training Program Includes:

  • 31 weeks of an organized training plan with detailed daily workouts designed to help you complete Ironman Wisconsin
  • Two coached classes per week
  • Unlimited communication with experienced coaches
  • Video swim technique analysis
  • Two supported rides on the Ironman Wisconsin course in Madison (dates to be determined)
  • Sponsor and product discounts

NOTE: Current Well-Fit and Chicago Tri Club members receive discounted entry to the IMOO Training Program

Chicago Program:

Each week, participants will meet at Well-Fit’s state of the art training facility for a Tuesday evening bike and run workout. Learn to use power, cadence and heart rate to maximum your training in our comfortable CompuTrainer training room. An Endless Pool, treadmills, strength equipment as well as ample room to stretch and relax after workouts are available to participants during class. Each Thursday, we meet at the UIC West Campus Recreation Center pool for guided swim instruction.  The Chicago program will meet as follows:

  • Session I: Tuesdays @ 6:00pm at the Well Fit Training Center
  • Session II: Tuesdays @ 7:30pm at the Well-Fit Training Center
  • Session I & II Swims: Thursdays @ 8:00pm at UIC West Campus Recreation Center (850 S. Wolcott)

Western Suburbs Program:

Well-Fit has taken the successful structure of our Chicago-based Ironman Wisconsin training program and moved it to the western suburbs, Wheaton and Naperville. Join Coach Elizabeth Waterstraat for the same high quality training program at two top quality venues, the Naperville North High School pool and Spokes in Wheaton. This program is limited to 8 participants.

Each week, participants will meet in the Computrainer room nestled behind Spokes in Wheaton with the opportunity for outdoor runs off the bike. On Thursdays, the swim program meets as part of the Naperville Park District’s masters swim program. An experienced coach will provide a distance free workout as well as stroke feedback. While only one swim is included in the Well Fit program, participants do have the option of signing up for a Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday swim practice through the Naperville Park District.   The Western Suburbs program will meet as follows:

  • Wednesdays @ 6 pm at Spokes in Wheaton (69 Danada Square)
  • Thursdays @ 7:30 pm at Naperville North High School (899 Mill Street)

Northern Suburbs Program:

Well-Fit has taken their successful Chicago-based Ironman Wisconsin training program and expanded it into the Northern suburbs. Each week, join coach Tim Ams for the same high-quality training program at two top quality venue:, the Lake Forest Academy pool and Running Away Multisport in Deerfield. This program is limited to 20 participants.

Each week, participants will meet in the Computrainer “pain cave” nestled in the Running Away Multisport warehouse in Deerfield with the opportunity for outdoor runs off the bike. On Tuesdays, the swim program meets at Lake Forest Academy. Coach Tim will provide a distance-focused freestyle workout as well as stroke feedback. The northern Suburbs program will meet as follows:

  • Tuesdays @ 6:00 am at Lake Forest Academy (Glore Gym, 1500 W. Kennedy Rd, Lake Forest)
  • Thursdays @ 6:00-7:30 pm OR 7:30-9:00pm at Running Away Multisport Warehouse (430 Lake Cook Rd, Deerfield)

Coaches: Elizabeth Waterstraat, Keith Klebacha and Tim Ams (these vary by program location)


All Participants: Each program is designed for beginner to intermediate athletes registered for Ironman Wisconsin , Louisville or Canada 2013. Note that the program does not include entry into any Ironman event.

Ironman Louisville & Canada Participants: The training program will be customized for your specific event in the final three training blocks leading up to race day.

Cost
$1100 for Non-Members; $1000 for CTC Members, $800 for Well-Fit Members

Payment may be made up front or monthly, via a $100 deposit and the remainder due in equal monthly installments
